Big hello to all OSM players and specially to those who appreciate and love watching movies. For those of you I have a treat. 😄

In discussion with moderators and in order to kickstart quality discussion on this lovely new OSM forum I decided to do a little forum game where we will choose the best and most popular Movies by the choice of OSM users.

So how will it work? Basically I would like you to post here in this topic the list of your favourite top 10 movies that you watched and to which you would like to give your votes. Also it would be good if you could tell a sentence or two about some of them and why they are in your top 10 (dont do it for all, lets say you do it only for your top 3 – please try to keep your posts in a reasonable size of text in order to avoid any potential overload.). The movie you put on 1st place will get 10 points, movie you put on 2nd place will get 9 points... and movie you put on 10th place will get 1 point. Please try to get the official names of the movies from the IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/) so that I can easily find them .

The voting period will last until the next Saturday (November 19th). After that, on Sunday, I will check once again If I have processed all the votes and allocated them to the movies. Then on Monday, if we got enough people to vote here we will close this topic and start a new one called „OSM's TOP 50 Movies Contest – The Countdown“.
Why „The Countdown“? Well because I wont reveal all the movies at once, we will start from the numbers 50 – 45 and I will then every day post 5 new movies from the list until we get to the final winner – the number 1 movie decided by the OSM users 😄

I hope that you find this idea interesting and that we will manage to collect enough people participating in this and that we will make a quality list so that people who like to watch movies and dont know what to watch on certain day will be able to look at this list and pick something from it if they havent seen it already.

P.S. If you have any questions or you'd like some extra info feel free to ask here or you can send me a PM. Also feel free to comment on each others lists.

    LET THE GAMES BEGIN! 💃

@Special-DaDa Nice list mate. But please can you edit your list and remove Game of Thrones. This topic is for ranking movies only, no TV Shows or TV Series should be included. 😉

Thanks Matija for opening this topic- it will be interesting to see the final results!

I will think about my top 10 for a while and I know if I did it now I would think of another and then have to change my list 😛 So to avoid confusion I will think about it first!

Got to confess I am not a big movie kind of guy. I do not watch a lot of movies and this list will look a little ridiculous to film fanatics, I'm sure. Nevertheless,

    1. V for Vendetta
    2. Airplane
    3. Shawshank Redemption
    4. Reservoir Dogs
    5. Pulp Fiction
    6. Grease
    7. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder , original)
    8. Butterfly Effect
    9. Good Will Hunting
      10.Forrest Gump

Oh I know the feeling girl. 😆 I 'm facing the same problem Megan. It seems so dam hard for me to choose the top 10 list when I've watched and loved so many movies and from all sorts of genres. 😜

@Majstor-Matt Thanks Matt (if you don't mind me calling you that). There was just something poetic about an eccentric masked man who fought the establishment. Then a normal girl (Natalie Portman) who saw the man behind the mask.

I was really wanting to add a film called The Acid House, but again, it's Scottish drug culture. It's a very strange watch but one you can't take your eyes off. Didn't add it because most won't be able to understand the accents!

Thanks for this topic, Matija, I think it really is a good idea! This is my list:

    1. The Godfather (1972) - The story is just epic and any of the three films deserves to be here. Marlon Brando at his best!
    2. A Clockwork Orange (1971) - A masterpiece, although I found a bit disturbing when I first watched it as a little kid.
    3. Vertigo (1958) - I believe Hitchcock should be in this list and this is my favourite film by him.
    4. Scarface (1983)
    5. Blade Runner (1982)
    6. The Lion King (1994)
    7. The Shining (1980)
    8. Requiem for a Dream (2000)
    9. The Skin I Live In (2011)
    10. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

@DWilson Thanks mate. Yeah I love War movies, they are the best. I was gonna put The Last Samurai and Alexander but I wanted some other genre on my list other than full historical war type. 😄
