@supernova-8 How can you require a player to visit the forum every day if the mobile app doesn't even allow access to the forum yet? And why is the warning only shown in the app 2 or 3 hours before the event starts?

Sorry but you cannot have it all your way mate! If you wish to be informed in time you get to visit the forums ! Use maybe your phone's browser for that , like I'm doing right now. That is why ALL events are presented on this topic in time for you managers to set your plans!It's to blame gamebasics bigtime. We changed to this forum some time ago as it could be part of the OSM mobile application. We're all still waiting for that moment, that will probably never happen.
Next to that, it would be way better to have a special announcements topic for this. I'm following this topic to get notifications about upcoming events, but I'm getting 9 out of 10 times notifications of useless posts in here. Create a topic where we as 'normal' users can only read and not post. Saves me a dozen of noticiations.
To finish this post, technical wise it's very easy to change timers from 16 hours back to 2 hours. I've read several times some stuff isn't possible due to technical reasons. Nonsense in my opinion, possibilities are almost endless nowadays.
While writing this message my phone gives me a notification:
Transfer deadline day! [...]
Why not send out a notification the day before?! Might be even better as you'll reach almost everyone.

@supernova-8 I'm not joking you or anyone. Nor am I here to make things all my way. Now, my belief is that things should always be done in the right way.
For me, the way these events have been introduced makes no sense. There has to be a way to reset pending scouts when the event begins. What's the point of not doing it? If it is a software limitation, admit it and try to address it!
But, honestly, what bothers me the most is that the counterargument for this cannot simply be 'if the player doesn't come to the forum it's his fault'. This gives an image of total unconcern about the issue! If at least forum access was available on all platforms, the argument would still not be the best in my opinion, but would have some credibility. In the current scenario, I don't think it's even credible.
Anyway, I see no point in keeping with the argument. The support team can do what it finds best with the issue I raised. In the best case scenario, you can solve something that makes no sense atm and maybe turn the game better for the users. In the worst case, you just wasted a few minutes responding to this spoiled guy who wants everything his own way...

Hi guys. Let me clear up some misconceptions I've read and address some of your concerns.
Firstly; Events are not supposed to be announced in advance, they're supposed to be a surprise and change constantly and randomly. The reason we announce them in advance here anyway is because some of our players felt the need to prepare for an event, and even though we want it to be a surprise we thought the request was fair enough to have this topic. We even announce them 2 days in advance, even though 1 day should be enough to prepare for the events.
This topic, so the announcing of events, is not the default, but something we did to meet your guys' demand to prepare. Therefore sending a push notification to all users is not something we are planning to do. See it as a bonus/reward for activity.@Vertrigo_NL This topic is for all of us, by all of us. I'm not in favour of enforcing a strict rule to topics if it doesn't need it, but if you, and others, feel the need to 'unclutter' this topic and keep it strictly for announcement-posts only we can do that of course. Please let me know if this is what you guys want.
Also, while you are right that possibilities are endless nowadays, manpower and time are not. Some changes require big changes that are very complex or require the need of a complete rewrite. As a (iOS) developer myself I know this all too well. Please be careful before you call something nonsense.@IL-Specciali If I understand you correctly, you suggest not announcing event anymore, but resetting the corresponding timers at the moment the event starts. Am I right?
Note: Bringing the Forums to the apps is still on our to-do list.

@galipcaliskan1907 My point is simple: the timers of the scouts pending when the Promotion starts should be reset to 2 hours (or kept when the remaining time is less than that), to avoid situations like the example I gave above.
As for the announcements, they are totally welcome! What I told Sophie was that a notice in the forum is not visible enough to all users. As you know, most users of the game use mobile applications and there is not even forum access through them.
Summing up the possible action points:
(1) (Ideal) Re-set timers so that users whose scouts are pending when the promotion starts are not harmed.
(2) (Less effort) Alert the event through the app at least 1 day in advance (so users can choose not to use the scout in the hours before the event starts).

The way announcements are made are very amateurish. On the mobile phone it's ok, but on the forum it is awful. The post of @Vertrigo_NL was very clear. Once there was a forum with lots of visitors and was working pretty good. Now the forum is practically gone, but Gamebasics does not seem to care.

The scedule of promotions are always messy, It starts later or ends later. This weekend is just an example of it. But again, nobody seems to care.
Sometimes I just wonder: does Gamebasics know they are a company with paying customers?

I've double checked and it appears to be 8 AM this morning. We've had some miscommunication within GB and together with the reschedule due to technical issues this past event has been far from ideal. Sincere apologies for the miscommunication this past week and fully agreed on the comments, this should have been communicated better and know we will do better in the future.

I am sorry, but it's really a mess. And not only this event. Let's hope it will be better in the future, but I really doubt that. Game Basics does not care, that's the problem for years and years now.

@galipcaliskan1907 Can't you put the event back on again? I just bought a replacement and didn't notice that the higher selling chance is already over. It was communicated that the event would last until 6 PM CET today.
