The winner will be announced - along with the winner of the UEFA Women's Player of the Year award and the winners of the UEFA Champions League role awards - during the group stage draw on Thursday, August 30th in Monaco. The following day will be announced the winner of the UEFA Europa League award Player of the Season.

Winner of the UEFA Champions League, second place in the FIFA World Cup and winner of the Golden Ball at the World Cup.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid / Juventus and Portugal)

What is the UEFA Men's Player of the Year Award?
The award is a recognition to the best players of any nationality who have played in a club of a nation affiliated to UEFA in the past season. Players are evaluated based on performance in all competitions (national, European and international).
How were the players selected?The three candidates were selected by a jury composed of the 80 coaches of the teams participating in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League (32) and UEFA Europa League (48) in 2017/18, as well as 55 journalists selected by the European Sports Media group ( ESM) representing each UEFA association.
The jurors selected three players by assigning five points, three points and one point in order of preference. The coaches could not vote for a player on their team.
