OSM WC 2019 Edition

Logical (suggestions, which you asking for) would be to reward managers who perform in present, but also, we shouldn't pass over those who perform at WC 1 year ago. All depends in which measure!
However, I will give more credit to the present, logicallyOnly 4 managers from the previous WC, even if they were the best of the best, seems too little. Even 12 out of 156 it's a disdaining thing concerning our noted managers. I would add more managers of the previous WC, but without being directly qualified, because present is the one that counts. We'll grant more places for they, as a sign of respect, but not before they're proving once more, the form and the quality.
Another thing which it's due to be improved is that from the Semifinal stage should to qualify more managers to the Final. I think that those who have succeeded to reach the Semifinals, deserves more chances to reach the Final, too. So, a Final league with more teams, if the schedule allows and such a league is possible, and with a little bit effort would be! Something new and original.
Therefore, I propose a WC with 168 managers, with 36 managers from the previous WC, which means only 22% of amount.
So, 168 (total) - 36 (managers from the previous WC) = 132 ; 132 available places for the managers of the actual year, compared to 144 places from previous year. Not a big deal.- 1st round: 14 leagues of 12 managers (Best 3 goes to next round and the six best rated 4th places)
- Semifinal: 4 leagues of 12 managers (Best 5 goes to next round)
- Final: 1 league (new and original, as I said
) with 20 managers.

@casual1948 again, a league teams number changed during competition... If you take a look, you want to give places to best 36 from last edition but i don't know if you think about next edition and how give those 36 places.
I'm not really agree with "Best X place" and i prefer give same places in each league, it's easier for all and prevenge unfair play, specially during last matches.
Main reason to not give directly place to a lot of users from last edition is because experience let me know that majority of them anyway are going to qualify this edition by manager points. This is why i still thinking to give them a place to Semifinal is a better recognition and a better thing to make users more competitive.
Thank you so much for your suggestion, i'm going to save it too and if i can't make it a reality in WC, it's a nice idea if I try to organize another competition
-
@markez17 I think "change number of teams" couldn't be a problem.
I guess now it works in this way: GB create a 12 team league and this league can be used for all of 3 rounds of WC (changing footballer's values, of course).
It should be enough to create 3 different leagues and use them for each round.I suggested changing numer of teams, cause in this way we can keep more managers in WC and the same time, get a final round more short, more competitive. Something like "Last-eight World Cup" that dsimulates a quarter-final of real WC.
About... "divisions", I didn't understand was a different competition, sorry. For this new competitions, if you need or want, you know you can count on me

In my opinion each combination with putting people directly into 2nd round is stupid.
Ok, I agree, it's ok to reward some people who made good results in last edition or who are high ranked on the World list, but putting them into 2nd round is a too big advantage. A safe place in the WC is fair enough. Everyone should start from the same position and it's not easy to pass the 1st round!
You know in real life if a team wins the Champions league they have a safe place in group stage next year...that doesen't mean they will be automatically in 1/8 Final.
Ofc everyone has his own opinion about this... -
@menagerbl and, if we have a WC this year with some users passing directly to semifinals... WC will become harder to everyone because they all know that, if they reach the final round and get a good place, they are going to pass this suffering of 1st round!
This is going to be 3rd OSM WC that i organize (And i gave some help with 2016 OSM WC too) and each user who got a "safe place" didn't need it because he/she was already qualified by manager points.
Until May ends, I have a lot of time to think and see if our 2018 WC best need a safe place or not... About high ranked special places, everyone has same chances to get this "too big" advantage like you said.I can be less or more agree with your feedback but i won't consider it stupid, thank you for it!
-
Ok sorry, it's not stupid. Let's say it's bad.
About ''safe place''.Can't agree with what you said. Eeach year there are at least 50% ''new faces'' who didn't participated the year before, and if some managers finished in top4 or top8 in the last edition it doesen't mean they will have enough manager points 1 year after that. Maybe they stop active playing, or quit the game for a while? I guess you know even 3-4 World Champions in last few years missed the next edition because they answered to late or whatever, which is an absurd...so even they hadn't a safe place.
For me it will be forever a ''too big advantage'', no matter what...and I won't participate with this rules even if I get a invite...but as I said, that's only my opinion...guess noone will miss me...
Wish you good luck with the organization!

I have a question about this rule:
Qualification period will be between 1st December and 31st May, but only leagues that finish from 14th December onwards will be taken into account
If I understand this correctly to be counted a league must begin on December 1st or later and finish May 31st or sooner. But what is considered the beginning of the league? The first match day or the first day of preseason preparation days?
-
@menagerbl said in OSM WC 2019 Edition:

My bad because i wanted to say "Each user who get a safe place and answered to accept it"! I remember two cases of WC winner who didn't play next edition due to inactivity/late response
Last edition you weren't interested to play WC anyway but for me it's ok that you want to give your personal opinion, be sure of that. Thank you!
-
@hank-strama a league counts if finished between 14th December and 31st May, both days included, but don't forget that only leagues where you played 14 matches or more will be taken in count!

Wait now, that's different than what you said before. Let's talk about two specific examples to make things clearer:
Case A:
I create a 10-team league on Nov. 20, first match day is on Nov. 24 and finishes on December 16th. Is this league valid?Case B:
I create a 10-team league on Nov. 27, first match day is on Dec. 1st and finishes on December 20th. Is this league valid?
