Older players are cheaper, how does age affect a player’s performance in this game? Also how does the game decide who your best set piece takers are- are there hidden stats apart from att and def?

Ok, really sorry but I have two more questions: Do younger players have more potential to improve than older players.. will anyone in my team ever retire? And is there any way to sign players from other leagues apart from the transfer list (or maybe asking managers from other leagues via chat to put their players on the market lol)

You can buy players from the scout. No, none of your players can retire, and yes, younger players have more progression (you might have noticed) and have a higher chance of selling than older players.

I dont know if there are hidden stats, i don’t think there are. I always put my best midfielder on corners.

If you want to look for players outside your own league, you will either have to use the transferlist or the scout. You can also purchase a Player Pack from the OSM Store.
Younger players do indeed have more potential than older players and their progression in training is thus higher.
Players won't retire during your season.
Age can decide someones performance in a game. Having a squad full veterans can hurt you, but so can a squad full with youngsters. It's best to have a bit of mix between those two. How much it can affect it is only known by the devs and won't be shared.
Age only factors in with assigning a captain. For the other specialist roles it doesn't matter and it will look more towards attacking stat, goals scored and assists given. If there are hidden stats for this, then it will most likely only be known by the game owners and won't be shared.
